This year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue features nude images for the first time, as part of a thought-provoking series where models select words to be painted on their bodies. A first look at the new series, shot by an all-female crew and dubbed " In Her Own Words ," was revealed on " Good Morning America " today. Porizkova wrote "truth" on her side, and Brinkley-Cook wrote "artist" on her body, among other words.
One of the fixtures of Sports Illustrated 's swimsuit issue is the part of the magazine that's even more naked than the rest: the body painting. Each year, a few brave souls put themselves out there as canvasses for makeup artist and body painter Joanne Gair, who applies hyper-realistic designs onto bare skin. The best part, she's one of three.
But we really must press on now, because a magazine that has been running a yearly swimsuit issue since has just featured its first model wearing a hijab and burkini. In the Swimwear Issue, increasingly high-profile Muslim model Halima Aden is pictured twice, both times reclining on a beach. As in, I would like to hear much more about this exciting development in the iconography of the magazine.
View on Instagram. In Vonn's first Swimsuit Issue appearance sinceshe'll flaunt a "swimsuit" made of body paint alongside fellow body-painted athletes Rousey and tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. In an Instagram post sharing the news, she included a cheerful body-positive message.
The plus-size pinup also discusses appearing in the coveted magazine for the third time and where her confidence comes from. While McGrady originally started modeling at 16, the star was told she was too big at a size 2, prompting her to take a hiatus for a few years. What does this mean to you?
Yes, plural. SI announced not one but three cover stars for their issue, and they're breaking the mold: Hailey Clauson, Ronda Rousey, and Ashley Graham. Beauty is not cookie cutter.
Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki also traded in their bikinis for paint for her shoot in Petit St. Vincent in the Grenadine islands. Wozniacki, who made waves when she appeared in the Swimsuit Edition in a teeny tiny white string bikini, models a red bodypaint suit in the edition.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition features wives and girlfriends, aka WAGS, of the world's best soccer players showing their support in painted replica jerseys and bikini bottoms. The photo below shows Bethany Dempsey, the year-old wife of U. Midfielder soccer player Clint Dempsey, upholding this time-honored SI tradition.
