There is a court-mandated gag order against releasing the name of the accused, to protect the identity of the victim.

A man who began sexually abusing his step-daughter before her First Holy Communion has been jailed for ten years. The man 70who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, was convicted by a jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court of 72 counts of indecent assault which occurred on dates between October 31, and August 24, He was aged 25 and the child was aged six when the attacks began.
This after he had earlier pleaded for judicial mercy, as he is suffering from an advanced stage of glaucoma and is legally blind. In cases where judicial mercy is applied, the court gives a more lenient sentence to the offender due to exceptional circumstances. The prisons would look into his medical care and follow ups for his condition, said the judge, who added there was no exceptional circumstance to exercise judicial mercy.
A man who sexually abused two young girls he was a father figure to for nearly a decade, one his stepdaughter who gave birth to his child, has been jailed for 18 years. The man, 43, was brought to justice after previously "remarkably" being granted bail over the offences, fleeing interstate, and changing his name and appearance to avoid capture. Over offences a County Court judge described as a "fundamental abuse of parental authority", the man pleaded guilty to six charges of incest, six charges of an indecent act with a child, and one charge of common assault.
A man who regularly sexually abused his step-daughter in the family home while her mother was working will be sentenced next month. He was later convicted by a jury of further charges of raping his step daughter and his lawyer told the court he does not accept those verdicts. In her victim impact statement the girl said the accused man no longer being in the house had financial and other effects on the family which she sometimes felt were her fault.
